Allozyme comparison of two populations of Rineloricaria (Siluriformes, Loricariidae) from the Ivaí River, upper Paraná River basin, Brazil Genet. Mol. Biol.
Limeira,Daniel M.; Renesto,Erasmo; Zawadzki,Cláudio H..
Two allopatric morphotypes of the genus Rinelocaria were compared through the allozyme electrophoresis technique: one morphotype, R. pentamaculata, from the Keller River in the middle stretch of the Ivaí River basin and the other, R. aff. pentamaculata, from the São João River in the upper portion of the Ivaí River basin. The morphotype from the São João River was collected upstream from the São João waterfall, which is about 80 m deep. Twelve enzymatic systems (AAT, ADH, EST, GCDH, G3PDH, GPI, IDH, LDH, MDH, ME, PGM and SOD) were analyzed, which allowed to score 22 loci. Only loci Aat-2, Est-3 and Mdh-C showed polymorphism. The two samples differed in allele frequencies at the three polymorphic loci. The average expected heterozygosity for all loci was...

Fator de condição gonadal, índice hepatossomático e recrutamento como indicadores do período de reprodução de Loricariichthys platymetopon (Osteichthyes, Loricariidae), bacia do rio Uruguai médio, sul do Brasil Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Querol,Marcus Vinicius Morini; Querol,Enrique; Gomes,Nara Neide Adolpho.
The recruitment period of Locariichthys platymetopon (Isbrucker & Nijssen, 1979) was investigated. It has been found out, through the data analysis, that the gonadal condition factor is a good indicator of the reproductive period and that the hepatossomatic index is probably related to the storage of reservation for the winter period. The recruitment occurred in November coinciding with the reproductive activity of May.

Microflore et anchoitage. ArchiMer
Campello, Francois.
The author studies the microbial phenomena which occur during the maturation of French anchovies, some from the Basque, the others from the Roussillon coast. There are some differences in relation with the origin of the fishes. On a marine agar, the microflora of the Mediterranean ones is almost constant or in a light diminution while that of the Atlantic ones is climbing during 9 weeks before a decline. On an extremely salted agar and in the both origins the archaebacteria are increasing in number during 5 to 6 weeks and diminishing before. The complete ripening is obtained within 16-17 weeks. The limits of the significance of the microbiological analysis are discussed.

Two examples of nutritional pathology related to vitamins E and C deficiencies ArchiMer
Baudin Laurencin, F; Messager, J; Stephan, Gwendal.
Symptoms recalling a nutritional pathology and more precisely a process of lipid peroxydation were observed during the last years in seabass Dicentrarchus labrax and other fishes cultured in tropical marine condition, Ocyurus chrysurus and Lutjanus analis . They included dark coloration, skin ulceration, lethargy, anorexy, emaciation. Histological examinations showed hepatic fatty degenerative lesions, pancreatitis, muscular degeneration and retinal atrophy. Additional vitamins E and C in the food suppressed that pathological symptoms. The previously evoked clinical or histological signs were not achieved in spite of an increase of the level of hepatic, muscular or blood malondialdehyde and of the conjugated dienes of the perivisceral fat. In the same...

La dynamique des pêches côtières du pays bigouden ArchiMer
Charuau, Anatole.
In the beginning, the coastal fleet of the Bigouden region fished by trawling and was completely focused on exploiting lobster and hake. It is a traditional business that expanded between the last war and the 70s, reaching its peak between 1975 and 1980. The best image to give an idea of this fleet is that of a "bucket waterwheel" endlessly discharging its catch in the four ports of the Guilvinec district. Where there is a seafaring business in Guilvinec, Loctudy and Saint-Guénolé, there is a complementarity that is expressed in two ways: - coastal fishing constitutes a very noticeable and regular supplement to production, since sales happen daily and only bad winter weather causes a relative decrease in the supplement. - coastal fishing gives a...

L'alimentation de Diplodus annualris, Diplodus sargus, Diplodus vulgaris et Sparus aurata (Pisces, Sparidae) dnas le golfe du Lion et les lagunes littorales. ArchiMer
Rosecchi, E.
The four Sparidae studied are coastal species that regularly enter the Mediterranean coastal salt lagoons. Changes in diet with regard to size class of fish, and occasionally season, are detailed. For each species, diets in the sea and in the lagoons are compared using several methods and show differences. Individuals from lagoons do not eat, or in very low numbers, mollusks, echinoderms and decapods. However, as their feeding is very rich and diverse, sparid fishes can probably find in the lagoons, whatever their age, the prey necessary to their growth. Trophic factors cannot explain age structure in lagoons and the absence of some age classes.

The Australian mariculture industry: Finfish, molluscs and crustaceans. ArchiMer
Baker, J; Kenway, M.
Australia's interest in mariculture has been comparatively recent when compared with the developments in many other Pacific countries. Two exceptions are native oysters, cultivated for food since the late 1880's, and pearl oysters which have been cultured, particularly in the northern part of Australia, following the initial work of Saville-Kent.

Biodiversité et dynamique des peuplements ichtyiques de la mangrove de Guaratuba, Brésil ArchiMer
Chaves, P; Bouchereau, Jl.
The Bay of Guaratuba, whose area is approximately 45 km(2), is a basin, situated to the south of Brazil (25 degrees 52' S; 48 degrees 39' W) and connected to the Atlantic ocean. In its northern part, a region of mangrove is found, under the influence of seasonal fluvial contributions, dominated by Laguncularia racemosa. The depth exceeds 6 m in some places. According to the period of the year, salinity varies between 3 and 37, and temperature between 15 and 28 degrees C. Several of the present fish species are exploited by commercial and recreational fisheries. This work describes characteristics of the fish populations occupying this mangrove, and temporal and spatial evolution of populations of the main species from available data on their biology....

Le Maigre, Argyrosomus regius (Asso, 1801) (Pisces, Perciformes, Sciaenidae) du Golfe de Gascogne et des eaux plus septentrionales ArchiMer
Quero, Jean-claude; Vayne, Jean-jacques.
The meagre (Argyrosmus regius ) of Bay of Biscay is found along the coast and in the Gironde Estuary from spring to autumn, and in deeper waters during the cold season. It is never abundant at the north of the Pertuis charentais. The young individuals and adults do not have the same distribution. Spawning takes place between mid May and late July in the Gironde Estuary. The young fish feed on small crustaceans and the adults on pelagic fishes. Growth is rapid. The meagre emits loud grunts and the fishermen of the Gironde use these noises to locate the fish and to position their nets.

Selection of finfish species for aquaculture development in Martinique (FWI). ArchiMer
Thouard, Emmanuel; Soletchnik, Patrick; Marion, J.
Since 1981, in Martinique, a programme of selection of fishes suitable for aquaculture has been conducted. Zootechnical and socio-economical constraints have led to the choice of three species, endemic and exotic: the palometa (Trachinotus goodei ), the red drum (Sciaenops ocellata ) and the red florida hybrid (Oreochromis sp.).

Kentouri, M; Divanach, P.
In aquaculture and particularly during fish larval rearing when the time between moment of stress application and the non-return point acquisition is very limited, criteria which may provide health state and stock evolution are of great importance. Now, in stress responce chronology, the specific behavioral scheme modification is first noted. This early identification, associated with initial conditions restoration, generaly do not involve after effects. Ethological knowledge beeing the basis of this for-casting strategy, the authors define in this study a simplified behavioral scheme of four sparid larval species in a range of physiological conditions.

Incidence de la salinite sur les equilibres de distribution hydrique et ioniques et sur le metabolisme respiratoire dans le muscle blanc, le muscle rouge et la branchie chez le muge Chelon labrosus ArchiMer
Gallis, J; Piquemal, S; Lambert, J; Sergent, P; Rousseau, V.
Oxygen consumption, water, K super(+) and Na super(+) contents were measured in white muscle, red muscle and gill epithelium in the mullet Chelon labrosus) in relation with the duration of fresh water or sea water (1500mOsm) adaptation. The unit respiratory activities in gill and red muscle where respectively 5 and 3 timesmore elevated than in white muscle. The pericellular K super(+)/Na super(+) ratio of the 3 tissues decreased with the fresh water adaptation duration. In the gill, the intracellular K super(+)/Na super(+) ratio was stable while the parameter decreased strongly in the white muscle. The results are discussed in relation to energetic cost of homocellular regulation and homoepithelial regulation.

Quero, Jean-claude; Spitz, J.
In 2005, a flying fish Cheilopogon cyanopterus, which doesn't figure among the Europeans faunas although pointed out in 1973, is captured in the Bay of Biscay. Following the catch of a Cubiceps gracilis near the coast in Britain, the authors recapitulating the former descriptions indicate that adults of this oceanic species remain in the open sea. Only juveniles come, rarely, to the coast. The species figures in the diet of common dolphins, striped dolphins, swordfishes and tunas. NOT CONTROLLED OCR

The significance of colour patterns in fish for the study of some fundamental issues in behaviour. ArchiMer
Baerends, Gerard P..
In this paper, the author shows why fish can be extremely valuable subjects for the study of a number of behaviour problems of crucial fundamental importance. As this special suitability is based on the capacity of changing rapidly and reversibly the body colouration and its marking patterns, he gives examples of the relation between colours and behaviour in fish.

Energy-protein management by some warmwater finfishes. ArchiMer
Luguet, P; Moreau, Y.
If warmwater finfish protein requirements as level in diet is low, absolute intake per day is similar to those of coldwater species. But relation of this requirement with specific growth rate differs for strictly warmwater fishes as Tilapias. Analysis of partition between protein and non-protein energy retention shows that these species with Clarias make a better use of non-protein energy provided and consequently improve their protein retention. Better carbohydrate digestibility and metabolism are propounded as part of the explanation.

Approche microbiologique de l'anchoitage. ArchiMer
Campello, Francois.
The maturation of salted anchovies leads to a product of particular organoleptic properties. The manufacturers have to resolve many problems. A thorough investigation of the phenomenons which occur is necessary to resolve them. The maturation is conducted at different temperatures. The present paper reports the microbiological variations of the present microfloras, from hyper-halophilic to the non-halophilic, which escort organoleptical and biochemical ones chiefly at 20 degree C. If the maturation's temperature is maintained high (28 degree C) there is a strong proteolysis. At 20 degree C the organoleptical characters appear within 2 months.
